Hello, Nostr friends!

Yesterday we dug a small pit for biochar. This is now the third method we've tried for making it and might be our favorite so far. The retorts in the wood stove are awesome but we can only make small quantities at a time, and I want an easy way to make a lot at once. We’ve made a fair amount in the double-barrel system but I found that to be much trickier- hard to get enough heat going in that narrow space between the barrels. Thanks to nostr:npub15879mltlln6k8jy32k6xvagmtqx3zhsndchcey8gjyectwldk88sq5kv0n for his excellent reference page and podcasts on making biochar.

Lots of good stuff happening today - taking care of the animals, continuing study on a few things I’m diving into these days; several hours of my fiat work (teaching, which I love!), and gathering wood for our next burn. There’s a lot to do right now to prepare planting areas for the spring and get charcoal incorporated into compost flows and eventually into mulch around our fruit trees and shrubs.

Also I’m happy to be doing the 31-day exercise challenge 🏋️‍♀️ with @hodlcuban and friends so will fit in 60 minutes of various exercises throughout the day.

Hope you all have an awesome day. 🤩
