Try subscribing to a few paid relays (5k sats each) and then turning off your global feed from ‘reading’ from the unpaid relays.
It blocks out a lot of noise and increases your signal

I have already done something close to that.
Only filter.nostr.wine was used for incoming relays and global feeds were turned off.
This was 280MB for a day's use.
This would use about 4GB in a month.
For me this is a lot.
I would be curious to know what % of that is images/videos/profile pic gifs vs actual relay use. I think we need improved client settings for not automatically loading media, animated profile photos, etc. It could also use lower limits when making nostr REQs. A “low bandwidth” mode.
This. We're getting to where we have excellent clients, and I'm sure customizability is coming. I would love to be able to flip images off when I'm on mobile network like I can on gossip on desktop.
Not a big deal when I'm on wifi, but even with unlimited data it kills battery on 5G.
I also wonder how difficult it would be to automatically send lower res images to mobile, similar to how CloudFlare does for websites. Not sure how that would be done without user agent data though.
