Shitcoinery on Bitcoin wouldn’t have been possible without broken filters—and they’re still broken. The next wave of garbage could be right around the corner. Sure, it’ll eventually pass, but the real issue is that all this junk remains permanently embedded in the UTXO set.
I just did a fresh IBD yesterday, and syncing the past two years (since the spam wave began) took me ten times longer than syncing all prior years combined. This is a real problem, yet Bitcoiners have become shockingly complacent. Why aren’t we making a bigger deal out of this?
