The beautiful thing about democracy, from the statists' point of view, is that you can always blame the people, even if there's no way to verify voting results. While you blame people for voting poorly, the psychopaths have easier access to their victims, the people who didn't vote poorly - and kill, in this case.

I think the most correct starting assumption, wrt democracy, is that votes don't matter.
