I'm think about spinning up a Ditto instance for a local community that's deeply engraved in Facebook. I no longer have a Facebook, so I don't know how to onboard them 😂 This will take some work.

Document your considerations and efforts. What worked, what didn’t. Recruit a few of them that did and didn’t migrate for a post-conversation to find out why, so that in the future we can eliminate hurdles. Document it from a tech perspective, as well as from a user experience perspective. Smoothness with onboarding is a critical workflow that needs special attention, because people are finicky with what they will and won’t do, and what were their reason why they did or didn’t.

And remember during those post interviews that the reasons they give are probably not the true reasons. Users don’t always know their actual motivations. They often can’t articulate them. You deduce that from overlaying the reason they gave with the analysis of the workflow to understand what stopped their subconscious from allowing their conscious to act. I’ll be really curious what platform and UI workflows you deploy for the migratory onboarding.
