Are you thinking a Pi or similar device with something like Umbrel pre-installed/pre-configured so it would just be a matter of plugging it in, let the node sync and open channels?

Yes. Pi/NUC/whatever with hopefully a mix of distros. #[3], #[4], and others.

Everything setup so Bitcoin blockchain downloaded, Lightning setup, nostr relay and hopefully in future we have distributed storage for plebs too.

Plug it in and with a few pages of instructions you can see it all and have it running.

The devices Start9 sell look like they get part way there with EmbassyOS pre installed. I think the difficult part is Lightning, figuring out which channels to open etc.

Yes but we shouldn’t rely on any one node provider; start9 should be one of the nodes in distribution but different setups adds resilience to the network.

Lightning out of the box is hard, but I think it’s doable. That’s where #nodestrich could help.

We’re going to start adding reputation now that we have transactions with zaps. There might be a Sats commitment for the lightning node for the recipient, reputation will help ensure this charity sends out few ‘dead nodes’ which don’t have the resources to join the network.

I’d love to see that…and have that (umbrel) /OS setup
