Today, my street got FIOS. I’ve never lived anywhere that had it. Is it better than regular internet? Is it worth making the switch?

Only worth it if you really need the speed.. imo

You cant really be a competitive gamer nowadays without it

I manage my own router and firewall separate from telecom Internet over Ethernet inside the premise

I suggest NOT getting an integrated CPE device with Wi-Fi, etc. where they can see your local network (LAN) and limit DHCP, DNS, router, firewall, etc. functions.

CPE=Customer Premise Equipment

If they do symmetric bandwidth (same upload as download) and others don't, it's worth it

That's the only way it's worth it though. I don't remember if they still do that
