So true. My new job starts in a month and I have been jobless since 2019 - so, a whole lot of free time to do whatever x). Thus I had the time to dig down - and honestly, I am not sure to regret it or not. But it works and I am happy that it does and fully understand why people would use Alby or WoS - the only people I would genuely laugh at are those that claim Bitcoin is freedom because it's centralized but park their sats in a custodial wallet, going against exactly what they said. That is where I derive a giggle from. ^^
I hope that Lightning is just "a first step" towards a micro-payment system that is easier to set up, possible to be self-custodial and friendly towards newcommers. Because right now, while it does work, it has... problems. As you rightfuly pointed out, I shared a good amount of aspects of that in my journey here.
Kinda funny. While writing this, I had to think of arguments going on in the Genshin Impact community, where people spending money were constantly arguing with people just playing. The gist of it, that both invested something: The paying ones invested money to get to the goal, whilst the others invested time. Both have their worth, and while the approach is different, the result is basically the same.
Why this thought-jump? Well, I went the self-custodial route, investing my time to be able to be zapped and vice versa, whilst someone who doesn't have the time, may just invest a little money into a custodial solution like WoS or Alby to reach effectively the same result.
