This is the dark side of bitcoin: a lot of people get free virtue points for embracing bitcoin. I have seen that abused FREQUENTLY. It isn’t as bad as gen pop but it is around 30% in my experience. Many handshakes and agreements reneged. It is kind of a meme to take advantage of starry eyed newbies that give too favorable deals to bitcoiners…especially influencers. My first piece of advice when I see this is to warn them that the Halo Effect is intense and undeserved in many cases.

If I had to Steelman I would point out that doing business on a bitcoin standard is difficult because both capital and customer funds are stingy. Making a profitable business on these conditions is hard on your wallet and your ego. Many fold and compromise on their values in the face of this reality. My advice to this cohort is: dig deep and try to find a way to not be completely reliant on bitcoiner generosity. Figure out how to actually achieve excellence and be undeniable. Build bridges to non bitcoin communities.

Lastly my advice to consumers is: consider that fence sitting ends badly. There will be a time where your choice is to support people who align with you or enter a Faustian slave contract. The sooner you choose the former the better things will be for you. Do not be lulled into easy retirement or the dreams about it. Luke 16:21.
