he identified Tucker as a historian ( by education ) who tried and failed to get into CIA

Putin reminded Tucker that he ( Putin ) himself, did in fact get into Russia's equivalent of CIA

and then gave Tucker a long history lecture

in other words half of the interview was just Putin negging Tucker
