Most of the same criticisms also apply to Mastodon too.
It is more "open" in a real way, but it's resource intensive even for a small server so in practice the official instance dominates, and even the runners up are heavily censored anyway.
Nostr is the first genuinely decentralised network I've seen gain real traction since the days of XMPP.
Surely nostr will gain more space in the communities when it has more welcome. And when they realize the potential of the protocol, it will be the real one until #tothemoon
I believe so. Nostr scales with very light resources (a $5 VPS is enough to run a relay) so the theoretical potential is infinite.
I’m about to experiment with a personal relay and another for business use. Every environment tests.
