Tesla is a boatload more than an electric car company. It is:
1. AI visionary with self driving cars
2. Manufacturing automation far exceeding other car manufactures
3. Over the air update/diagnostic
4. Life saving safety systems that push the industry to new limits.
Space X accomplishments are miraculous WRT both cost per launch and cost per delivery.
Now with starship $/tons to space will dropping rapidly.

Successful risk takers are easy to criticize.
Interesting you mention “Atlas” in another context Musk made the Atlas V, Delta 2 and Delta 2 heavy as well as Delta 4 rockets obsolete and cost prohibitive.
The Starship will most likely make SLS obsolete, possibly before its operational.
