Nostr Web Client

I am writing a public article that is partially about Nostr.

What are some easy-to-miss Nostr details that would be worth mentioning? Audience will be a mix of bitcoiners and general macro/investing audience. Mostly I sm writing for the latter- people who may not have heard about it yet.

I already included a Nostr section in my latest private research report, and included a slide about Nostr in a guest lecture at Princeton last week. I am spinning up my research on it over time, with public articles and broader reach being the next phase.

- Open protocols don't die easily

- nostr can't go bankrupt

- All accounts already exist

- Social media is only the 1st use case

- It's an identity and reputation layer

- Many "stupid" things will run over nostr

- (Calendar sync, TODO apps, etc.)

- Private relays will be big

- Pay-to-write is not a paywall

- Paywalls (pay-to-read) = stupid

- NIP-07 kills usernames and passwords

- It will improve massively over time

- Time and attention are horrible graph currencies

- Sats fix this & enhance the social graph signal

- Special clients will replace whole networks

- Pivot to nostr or perish

Forgot the most important one: nostr has not one but two network effects, just like the internet and bitcoin. Not only does it gain quadratically from every user, but also from every app/service/tool that's using the protocol to its advantage.

That means that we will likely see an explosion of micro-apps.

You don't need to bully users into signing up, since everyone with a nostr account can try your thing without friction.

My prediction is that we will see many useful tools, some paid, that do not require any sign-ups or harvesting of user data. Provide a useful service, charge in sats, done.

Like business in the good old days.
