This doesn’t seem all that different to me from having a relationship with a shopkeeper where you have a tab. The vendor recognizes you on sight and charges your account for the items.

The only differences are that the shopkeeper is a megacorp and it’s using a computer to look at your hand instead of a human looking at your face.
