I remember hearing about a financial shit show right before that happened and I can’t find any news footage of it anymore. I wasn’t imaging stuff, was I?

No you weren't. The Pentagon announced that they had no idea where $6 billion (or was it trillion) had gone one or two days before).

They lost it 😂 (and the US government wants to regulate bitcoin).
