Yes, the "never again" arguments are bullshit, because you are not allowed to compare any current event to Nazism, in any way - even to say "this looks like the kind of thing that happened at the start of Nazism, let's be sure we don't go down that path".

In fact the "lesson" of Nazism is used in the exactly the opposite way - to enforce greater authoritarianism. CJ Hopkins is a perfect example - convicted of promoting Nazism, literally for suggesting the German covid laws were authoritarian in a way that was similar to Nazism and mocking the German health minister.

All this tells me that the desire for authoritariansm is deeper than just one ideology - like Nazism or whatever you'd call the current insanity, which are just superficial manifestations. It says to me there is a strong prediliction in the German national psyche towards all working together, in a kind of insane super-committed roboherd that will follow its own logic absolutely and to the any extreme.
