what did you do to create your custom feeds?
Discussion
Third party services have popped up to create them easily, then it’s linked to your account and can optionally be made public for anyone to use.
Some examples:
skyfeed.app
blueskyfeedcreator.com
graze.social
their docs show this is just publishing a feed to their API:
https://github.com/bluesky-social/feed-generator/blob/main/scripts/publishFeedGen.ts
i forgot this is a decentralized in name only protocol
I could run my own PDS and it would publish to my server. Many do, but the Bluesky server is still the largest by far.
Decentralization is unquestionably something nostr has a strong lead on, but Bluesky is crawling in the right direction.
agreed
you definitely have no idea of how bluesky works
Inform me, then, instead of just an effortless troll?
sorry, you can publish to your PDS but that is irrelevant as all the data has to go through their big server that aggregates everything and then to another server that creates the bsky feed
For now. Like I said, decentralization is not a current strength, but it’s at least an end goal.
Regardless, my only purpose for posting any of my comments in this thread is to help improve nostr with friendly competition and good ideas from other new platforms, not besmirch it.
I would like to know where you got that information that they intend to change their architecture, I dont think they do
I dont disagree with your take on the custom feeds on bluesky, but I also think the way they did it only works in centralized systems
nostr has to either come up with a different implementation or give up decentralization and embrace primal
They are and have open sourced everything. Why wouldn’t there eventually be other options and alternate firehoses? Pretty sure that’s what the northsky project is already working on setting up.
if anyone did, which I doubt will ever happen, that would be a totally new standalone social network with zero network effect, so what is the point?
