I do agree, it's a big show. But the main flaw is not the two party system. I live in a place with multi party democracy and still the differences of the parties are mostly optics. I feel that us democracy brings out more interesting candidates than ours. Also see how much trump derailed the rep party. Something like that is unthinkable where I am from.

In the end I think what really matters is just how much power individuals hold versus the state. Sadly we live in a time where increasingly we do not trust individuals choices and want to give more power to institutions to cure the individual human flaws.
