Why don’t more video games have bitcoin baked right into them by now?

Where bitcoin is the native currency of the game?

With lightning and ecash progress these days I thought I’d see more by now? I’m not talking about fiaty type mobile games where you win sats or something.

What am I missing?

or is this something that IS missing today in video games and could/should happen? 💡

There are some experiments like the counter strike that uses bitcoin by putting it on a prize pool and whoever wins the game gets it. Or the Minecraft with the bitcoin economy that was shutdown not long ago or some other plethora of games that have Bitcoin integrate it like lightning poker.

But truth is, idk 🤷🏻‍♂️. A lot of big companies in gaming industry don’t like to NOT have a monopoly on money. In an economy they want something they can control, bitcoin is certainly not in that category, that’s why they use “tokens” instead.

I believe it will come, but not any time soon. The tech is there, but it is just too moody and noise with all the crypto and nft bullshit, that’s another big factor.

What we need is some orange pilled indie game developers to integrate it and make a good game out of it. Leading by example

👀 agreed.

I guess the answer is that the developers of web3 games prefer to add their own shitcoin only to then give you staking rewards for your NFT jpg assets while they're working on eventually delivering a game that will use their token.

Needless to say that 95% never get their and the 5% that do dont attract players. In both cases their tokens turn worthless

At least that's what I've seen so far from 2018 up to now.
