It used to be the norm with all things to do with money, finances, personal belongings, clothing, wealth, cars, and the rest.

Why? My grandparents (all dead) and I still say that it breeds resentment, emphasizes division, and begs for jealousy.

To some extent it's still like tihs in France. If you immediately ask about people's money, their parents' money or anything like that when you are not close friends, it's typically assumed that you are more interested in $$$ than a true friendship.

A lot of posts on social media are social climbing and bragging. Total turn-offs.

I can't recall seeing much if any of that around here on #Nostr.

I was brought up with "you don't ask people how much they earn or how much they owe. It's rude". Then Bitcoin entered the room and everyone is like "how many coins do you own? I don't know, do you like anal?

Me too. So much wrong with it.
