Do we think there's a way to merge ordinals culture into Nostr culture ethically?

Or do we think there will always be friction there?

What about digital art / collectibles / game items if they were on 2nd layers (taro/RGB/liquid)?

I think so. Collectibles, in a broad sense, are programmable securities. A monkey picture with a programmed identity is pretty boring compared to what could be done.
