Your arguments are probably too complex and probably have too many irrelevant details.
Relics.
Innate human curiosity, inquisition, risk and sense of adventure has been beaten out of them.
Lulled to sleep. Complacent, but ever willing to remain there because it's too much effort for them to adapt.
