I did factory reset and flashed to latest stable. The app sees the device now, but the node menu that's in all the screenshots isn't present, so now I'm stuck again.

Can you post a screenshot of what you see?

1. Is the node itself powered in?

2. Is your phone's Bluetooth on and are you close enough to the node?

3. Did you connect the node before or after you did the factory reset? If before you probably need to forget and the re-pair it

Also, not sure whether "not connected" means not connected to the device or not connected to a mesh.

Well, looks like a reboot got things a little further. Now at setting region.

Interface must have changed recently, though, because I still don't have a node menu icon.

Making progress. Now have a checkmark on the cloud icon. But, man, this error is hilariously confusing when changing settings…

When you change settings the app sends the node a new config and it restarts it's normal to disconnect for a minute when you change settings

Yeah, I figured that must be it. But confusing at first.

Well, I think I'm up and running correctly now, but not seeing anyone else on the network. Which I kind of expected. Small town in WV. No Helium hotspots in town, for example.

Would switching to Long Slow be a good move in this case?

No. The default channel is on long fast so you need to stay on that if you want to find anyone. Most nodes broadcast nodeinfo only periodically so it will take a couple hours for your list to populate if there's anyone nearby

Ah. OK, will leave this running for a while then and see if I have more luck.

Hope there's some nodes nearby!

If this map is correct, looks like I might be able to hit some on my periodic drives to PA, so fingers crossed.

Or DC, but I it takes really good music and/or dancing to get me down that way. ;)

Nearest node on the map at meshmap.net is 18 miles away. Will have to check next time I'm up that way, I guess. Or buy one of these units for a friend. ;)
