If bitcoin is lost or inaccessible, total bitcoin supply is reduced and purchasing power of existing bitcoin is increased accordingly. Thus, those lost bitcoin are basically distributed equally across all bitcoin holders :) i prefer this system because it already exists and requires no interventions or changes.
