That's interesting. I bought a Yamaha drum kit with birch shells that was made in China a few years ago... excellent sound, solid build. They've definitely improved their quality control over the last decade.

Yeah, and I remember arguing that China wouldn't be able to climb the quality ladder (or whatever the snooty term being used was), and I think I was wrong.
