I have a hypothesis that one of the biggest commonalities among current Nostr users is the ability to find signal and find others who are also good at finding signal.

It may be the most powerful skill because nobody, not you or me, can know about or be right about everything. Some of my favorite people have glaring holes in the models, especially if it’s in an area that’s outside of their wheelhouses. But I noticed that each of them is good at identifying people who also find signal and then continue to learn from them.

You probably weren’t browsing developer sites and stumbled upon the Nostr code, kudos if you did. No, you heard a podcast or heard from someone on Twitter or IRL about Nostr and decided that it seemed like signal. Now here you are, with other people who did the same thing, all compounding.

For that reason, I’m convinced that Nostr is currently the highest signal, fieriest crucible for ideas anywhere, either on the internet or in meatspace.

I think it's full of people who constantly refine and review their own mental models of the world. It's an active process of thinking and re-thinking. Most people just accept the world as it is.

Important new skill - thinking and re-thinking. In rapidly changing environment it is a crucial skill!

Agree, I have developed an ability to tune into what I am being told to dismiss.

"The biggest commonalities among current Nostr users is the ability to find signal" this is probably true, but don't we need more users to a least have a hope of listening to the right people?

Not in the beginning. I think too many people are rushing for mass adoption.

I still find more signal al twitter than here, but Nostr has way more potential.

I see that was posted 5 months ago,

how about now, just curious

is the x/twitter signal still good?

A little bit. I deleted my X account and I don't regret it. Obviously we need more people who bring content variety at a quality level. But it's getting better.

exactamundo 4 me

no twitter or fb, instagram, linkedin...really not into those

Nice

At the risk of sounding like the prototypical ‘anarchist’, it seems to have something to do with the denial of any sort of authority. Authority seems to hinder intelligence — which is seeing truth for oneself.

Sounds proper✊🏼

And that will gradually diminish as more people come on board.

Nothing stopping someone from making a feed/tab that only shows certain npubs that were “active” before x date.

Very true, and that's another reason nostr wins.

think about joining these highest signal on earth into one LLM.

an llm can learn from the individuals and combine the signal into one superposition.

oh shoot someone is already doing it. 😸
