What I find amazing about people who drink and write is how extra hard they have to be working. I don’t find drugs and alcohol to be a help at all. They are useful in turning off your mind but not in igniting it. Not for me, anyway.

I never did try writing on cocaine though. That might have been interesting. Carlin swore by it. So did Dalton Trumbo. Fortunately for me, I was poor as a church mouse in my cocaine days so the damage was severely limited.

I do like caffeine though, so…
