My kids have chore lists that aren't paid. The dishes are a family chore cause we all dirty them. The trash is produced by all 4 of us. They are free to decline my offer to do it for pay, and play for longer until they argue or get rowdy, then get ordered an extra duty by their mother.
Incentivizing them tends to eliminate the grumbling altogether. I buy them things beyond necessities, yes but not everything they ask for and by earning their own spending money it teaches them to respect the value of their own labor. By watching that value grow as the asset grows, it teaches them to have a lower time preference.
They compete with each other over who has earned more Bitcoin each week.
