For me the mobile apps that are very similar to Google Photos / iCloud are that most important feature. Automatic backup from your photo. If you are happy with your solution that’s great. What are you using? Synology photo app?

No. I have a nextcloud with automatic upload. On my nas i run an rsync via cronjob to sync the files on my nas at home.
Works for some years now.
