It need only continue to exist.

Yes, i often put it like this:
Assume the fiat system works as designed, and maintains 2% inflation in all asset classes.
Then your cash will lose half its purchasing power in about 30 years, and bitcoin will have doubled in purchasing power.
And thats if everything is according to the fiat plan, nothing changes, and no one new buys bitcoin ever again.
