This is not just for devs and techies is it? Would an otherwise non-dev ordinary yet prudent individual have something of value to input in these meet ups?

Yeah like nostr:npub1erhg86xl307d46pla66aycr6sjpy9esnrffysr98l5pjvt2fdgeq8wru26 said the meetups are definitely not a dev only thing, majority of are normies who just wanted to create a grassroots community in the Toronto area for Nostr. We did our inaugural meetup at Casa Mezcal but haven’t had one since. Had some inter-founder issues which slowed us a bit and we noticed a lack of engagement on Nostr revolving around the meetups so we axed them. Now myself & nostr:npub1826v365he5ty69lk3xgvzqrwy8587vdfrxnsz0k09khzustf8r7s6j7t95 play a hand in the Bitcoin Cypherpunks group and meetups, where we both talk about Nostr (and Bitcoin of course).
