When I asked my dad at the beginning of the war in Ukraine if he would defend our country if we were attacked, as a man who, unlike me, had experienced military conscription, he said no.

I, being a young cunt, became upset that he wouldn't when it was his duty.

His answer echoes in my head to this day.

- My duty is not to go die for the Overlords so they don't have to go die on the front lines.

My duty is to protect my family and my neighborhood that I call home.

Son, I would go to defend you if the worst came to the worst and we would form a citizen's defense of our city, but going to die without you, your sister and your mother somewhere on the front lines doesn't make sense to me.

War doesn’t make sense at all son, remember that.
