“The answer is monetisation”— this reduces quality and what’s actually significant. Plenty of people brining in boatloads of money selling sugar and bs.

The discussion must be more focused.

The sugar and bs is what we currently have on legacy social media. Largely that is because everything is free and stuff that gets people addictived is promoted by the algos.

The key thing to understand with Fanfares is that the paywall creates friction.

You will only see the content if you choose to pay.

You will only choose to pay if you already know the work of the creator or if you are recommend by someone you trust.

If the content turns out to be sugar or bs, then you lose trust for both the creator and person who recommended. You remove them from your signal.

Your choice informs the web of trust of everyone connected to you.

We are the algorithm in this system!

Will it be possible to allow someone to watch 10 or 20% of the video first, before paying to gain full access? I think this would be vastly beneficial to all parties. Offering a bit for free is a good model.

Profits and monetization always improve quality. Learning Producers is completely wrong. Capitalism and competition work very well indeed. Long live the incentives of the free market

By all means if you support selling unhealthy foods because “capitalism good” live your life bro.

Fiat money = fiat food, fiat lifestyle, and fiat brain. It's got nothing to do with making a profit. This is a Bitcoin system of profit, not a fiat system.

So if you sell someone high calorie sugary food but accept bitcoin payments in bitcoin somehow this addresses quality? I like capitalism too but your point is bs

Just because you want to control how much sugar someone ELSE eats, it doesn't mean you SHOULD control how much sugar someone else eats.

Fine! Be a chunky monkey!🤣 pretend you’re eating quality ingredients

If course. That is what we currently do with audio.

Thanks for the question. We welcome more

OK, I do have one more question. Will it be possible to have an 'interactive quiz' (the simplest multiple-choice type)? I usually have these after each lecture so that the student can repeat and check their understanding

I do agree with your point about the algos promoting addictive stuff and I’ll keep fanfares in mind. Friction is def necessary in building worthwhile products and services. I just don’t like when the blinders get put on as soon as number goes up.

My audio book explains in more detail
