Still don't understand the point in deleting Twitter. Obviously an individual choice, but I still have Reddit & Bitcointalk, even if I rarely use either.
Doubt I'd ever delete Twitter.

Agreed. Especially if deleting twitter leaves you to only Nostr. Nostr is getting there, but for now its 90% bitcoin chatroom. Other topics are interesting and those communities haven't migrated yet.
For me, it was a number of factors that led to the decision.
For one, I couldn't escape the feeling that I was a slave to the algorithm and struggled to moderate my time spent there.
Beyond that, I often found myself disappointed when I came to nostr and felt there was a lack of posts I cared to read and interact with. I decided to be a part of the solution to my own problem, and dedicate more time here.
While I miss some of the macro content that I used Twitter for, I am happy to have such wonderful macro thinkers as nostr:npub1k7vkcxp7qdkly7qzj3dcpw7u3v9lt9cmvcs6s6ln26wrxggh7p7su3c04l, nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a, and nostr:npub1cj94enk44kn5mvrcma4sp7jnlsgnn4em7rk3dh3jt4fzyqs3m02s560efa posting more significant macro trends and thoughts here on a semi-regular basis.
Ultimately I don't regret my choice. It freed me to a degree from the moderate addiction that Twitter had become for me, allows me the ability to custody my own social persona, and offers me an opportunity to put more of my time towards the form of social content that I wish to see more of in the future.
Yeah you gotta do you. 🐦⬛
THANK YOU !!! ... thats been my question as well ...
As much as I'm all for making a statement. #QuietQuitting centralized systems is just as valid.
That said, I did delete Facebook, which I consider similar to finally moving out of your parent's house.
Some explorers left their boats safely tied up in case they needed them again. Some burned the boats after they reached shore so there was no option to turn back. Both groups had a part in establishing new settlements.
Need a second place to confirm gpg pub keys are legit.
Agreed. I mean I suppose it’s like Galts Gulch, but then you aren’t helping to pull people away. A smart developer of a nostr client should really have a link feature, allowing nostr users to automatically post all of their notes to their twitter profile with a custom message. Something like “[20 character preview]… I’ve moved over to Nostr. To view this message, come join me [Link to their preferred client]”.
I don't like the way legacy social media is designed to keep people pissed to sell more soap or whatever.
I started pondering the problem after watching the Social Dilemma and reading Jaron Lanier's Ten Arguments For Deleting Social Media.
You have thousands of followers though. Xwitter is probably more valuable for you than me.
Reminder that you are in control of your motions. No one or nothing can make you pissed, only you can make you pissed.
Always remain in control of yourself. ✌️
I agree, but what percentage of the world's population is manipulated by these algos?
My guess is a statistically significant percentage of them.

Same here. I keep them to adjust my Bayesian model of the world. We’re not acting in a vacuum.
The argument may be similar to not having alcohol at home if you tend to drink in excess. Doesn't apply to everyone.
