If impairment of your inhibitions helped you overcome your irrational fears in the long run then you might have a starting point for your argument.

Unfortunately the opposite happens, people get more disconnected from reality and addressing their real issues.

I'd argue it's not either or, one needs not be under the influence at all times, in which case I'd agree that it would not be good, at all, the kind of disconnect that would come from it.

my point is that in certain social situations, such as going to speak with someone you like but being inhibited, alcohol might facilitate a first approach, if more times than not this leads to a relationship with offspring that would not otherwise have happened, it might be net good for the continuation of the species

What would be better for the species is trying to understand out why we are increasingly more isolated and afraid of each other. I’m agreeing with you on the underlying issue, just not the solution.

I'm just saying that, given it's a secular human habit, it might just contribute to the proliferation of the species.
