I found the carnivore diet at the end of 2017. I’m definitely a believer, but I’ve struggled with it over the years because I’ve had key portions of my intestines removed that are important for bile recycling and the high fat and protein diet leads to bile going into my large intestine, where it shouldn’t be. The best thing I did was cut out fruit and vegetables and fiber. I also had a colostomy for a year and I haven’t been the same since. The silver lining of my Crohn’s is that it led me down the nutrition rabbit hole a couple decades ago.

My main regret with being on TRT is that it’s very hard to get off it. I was off for four months and got my hormone production up with the help of Clomid, but I had no sex drive and didn’t feel great. Being so dependent on a pharmaceutical is not a good feeling, especially since 2020. I also think my wife and I missed our window to have kids because it’s basically male birth control. If I was you, I would really think about it before you jump in. Where is your total test right now? Sorry for the lengthy response

No need to apologize I really value detailed and authentic conversation.

That’s a brutal situation with your Crohn’s and the downstream effects. I’ve noticed a lot of positive changes from cutting out grains, fruit / veg / fiber too. I wish you all the best with that situation.

I see now. I’ve never known anyone who was on TRT personally but I’ve heard people talk about it on YouTube where they didn’t really go into the trade offs of being on it as much as glorified it. I’ve always been a hard gainer so TRT has appeal. But at the same time I have always been mentally and physically healthy and so I didn’t want to disrupt the natural balance that I had going on.

Had one friend when I was younger who was on test and probably some on other stuff and it screwed him up badly mentally. So I was cautious about doing anything.

Coincidentally I am getting my bloodwork done today. I’ve been on strict carnivore for over a year now and want to get baselines. Doc is checking total test too so will know more after I get the results, I’ll report back.

I appreciate the kind words. If you’re happy and healthy, I’d stay off it if your numbers are good. Those numbers are just a snapshot anyway, they don’t tell the whole story. You should go by your sex drive, sleep, body composition, etc. rather than some arbitrary numbers.

How were your numbers looking? I just ask because I know a lot of doctors are pushing test nowadays
