This article describes how to make your own gel fuel out of alcohol and wax. It tells you to melt the wax, and add the highest percentage alcohol you can get, mixing them together.
It says absolutely nothing about the combustion temp, or evaporation temp of alcohol, or what might happen if the pan was too hot. Or what WOULD happen if you were using a gas stove with a flame. Which, considering the potential outcome, is damn near criminal negligence. Burn your face off and set your kitchen on fire anyone?
FYI, the evaporation point for alcohol is 170 degrees F. If i were doing this, I would go slow, work on low non flame heat, and make sure not to exceed this. But generally, heating an extremely flammable liquid over a stove is not the smartest idea. But thats just me.
