This is a thorny subject. True v4v artist would say have at it, just include them in the value split. Others say you’re stealing their intellectual property. I’m of the opinion if it can be stolen, it’s not v4v… but others have their own ideas about what v4v is. I’d still ask though, just to be courteous and let them know you value their work.
