On twitter, it works OK but I'm not sure if it really fits in line with Nostr.

Open, and Decentralized protocols allow people to post information, and engage with it.

The consensus of truth tends to win.

Open and decentralized doesn’t really have anything to do with sharing rage bait and obvious falsities

It feels like a slippery slope, or a dangerous premise.

I know the political makeup of Nostr might be more diverse than other platforms, however I feel like it's primed for a 51% scenario where political actors could specifically target notes, and sway, and manipulate them.

In the case of Twitter I think people proactively modify the notes at a even ratio, though there have been some stupid, or redundant notes as well.

Truth and consensus are two different things

But is it not fair that there tends to be a perceived tendency that overlaps both?

While not everything that is consensus is true, in most cases things that are true tend to be consensus.

However, of course there are times when the crowds have lost rational thought, that's why we always need people to find the truth, and fight to uphold it.
