Yeah, it was really lean and even more efficient! On top of that there were people who would try hosting Mastodon servers and if they weren't moderated the way that bigger instances liked it seemed like they got bullied a lot which 'caused burnout. This happened with Niu.Moe back then, I believe. I don't think the owner would admit to it though, because he is very polite.
