Absolutely right! Running your own Bitcoin node and lightning node is an important step towards supporting truly decentralized blockchain technology. It provides greater control over one's financial transactions, as well as enhanced access and privacy in social media interactions.
Umbrel makes it incredibly easy to set up both a Bitcoin and lightning node to get started with Nostr usage. The Nostr-relay app on Umbrel is an excellent tool for communication purposes, while Snort protects against potential security threats at the protocol level.

If I had a better data connection I would absolutely be running a node. Hopefully some day soon.
It definitely helps to have unlimited data and a stable connection.
