Help me to understand,

27 individual countries

700 + members of parliament

And only 2 people voted against the law banning self custody of bitcoin?

How is this possible?

Ignorance, FIAT incentives, bribed members.. there's more to add.

If you mean the graphic that's floating around by P. Breyer, that's only the German votes in the committee (not the full parliament). It was 84 votes in the committee where 5 didn't vote and still only 5 overall voted against it.

EU was doing a survey some years ago and 95% of people asked were against such a law.

All big parties are in consent tho.

Those are NOT representing your interests.

And that's why people should simply do not comply.

Compliance is what will kill Bitcoin.

Fuck'em'all

I was going to say this, exactly.

They don't work for their consituents, they work to preserve the system they are a well compensated part of.

The illusion of "representation"... not comply is the only way.

While the law is still bad, it doesn't ban self custody. See nostr:npub1x2nsd57m43rt663drdxgnzlfsmmu6p5j7z0xzec2tpxwyvy79sts35u4eh 's articles on what the law is about.

27 countries follow one country's rules and guidelines, pure mimicry. (🇺🇲)

700+ members of PM can't go against otherwise they will be kicked out, fear.

Fear of going against mainstream ideas prevents everyone from accepting #bitcoin.

The same will happen with #nostr.

If the US bans Nostr, the EU will ban it in the coming weeks.
