The harlequin poison frog, also known as harlequin poison-dart frog (Oophaga histrionica)

Unlike many of the dendrobatine poison dart frogs, the harlequin poison dart frog contains histrionicotoxin, a deadly cardiotoxin only found in the harlequin poison dart frog and the closely allied Oophaga speciosa.

The IUCN has listed this species as being "Critically Endangered". There is ongoing destruction of its rainforest habitat and its numbers seem to be declining.
