NSW 'dodged a bullet' but Alfred put towns centimetres from disaster

The Bureau of Meteorology forecast potential flooding on 14 rivers in northern NSW in the wake of ex-Cyclone Alfred. While only four actually did experience a major flood, data shows that several more were close, though all river heights were eclipsed by the catastrophic floods of early 2022.
