To be fair, for a government it makes total sense to have a regulated environment IMO. I have no trouble with them using Mastodon, but I was more surprised with the fact they went on the decentralised route at all.

It's quite a sign on the wall that of all entities even a government is so annoyed with the current social media landscape that they were forced their hand to venture into decentralised territory.

It's a win IMO. Even though it's Mastodon, even though it's a government, etc etc. It shows the world is moving towards decentralisation. And it's moving fast.
