If it hides sender and receiver .. how one knows it is doing right accounting ? I guess there is no public ledger to validate the transactions?

Zero Knowledge Proofs.
a transaction has to prove that the sum of the inputs and outputs equals zero to be accepted by the network as valid.
we can prove that *without knowing the amounts*.
but thats correct,
we can't do "napkin math"to sum up the utxo set as in Bitcoin.
It's nice to see a Bitcoiner here on Nostr that isn't already established showing legitmate interest in what makes Monero better in certain aspects, and vice versa.
