Not as a hobby, no. Take it as any manual labor, you either go extra fancy (wide knowledge, high skill and expensive machinery required) or extra fast on low costs. It's back breaking either way. I just like that my made things are way sturdier and higher quality, I handpick the patterns and such. But as for cost, it barely breaks the shit Kik or Sinsay sell. Plus work.
As any hobby, it costs unexpected sums😃

I'm now for the kid sewing orange pants with monstertrucks all over, that will be widely adored across preschool class😃 It's easier to sew for kids, because they don't vary in size much, so just a bought pattern works. For adults it requires some 3d modeling and calculations in every body, that's too much for a hobby.
