Is it the potential benefit to us, the magnitude of the problem being solved or the elegance of the implementation that makes bitcoin so remarkable to us?

Unquantifiably positive solutions have been implemented in the past.

I think it's the thing being solved. I think money and the potential for profit and personal gain is absolutely intoxicating. I think that makes bitcoin the most divisive solution ever to happen in spite of it's elegance and how much clearly better it is, especially morally, than what came before.

I also think staying fully humble all the way "up" is like aspiring to live like Jesus. A good aspiration, that you will fail to uphold when faced with crucifixion. Bitcoin is a lesson in humility if nothing else. You can lose everyone if you do not tread lightly carrying this idea. Everyone learns quickly that expressing the idea makes others recoil initially.
