GitLab, well, it is already what it is.

Then large projects - say Gnome - have their own instances... that require a DIFFERENT login.

Something is wrong there.

I can see a future when Linux/Gnome and friends will have a Bitcoin/Nostr first branch (or fork or something...).

Gitea has been planning to decentralize trough Activity Pub, which is not the same as Nostr, but would allow interacting with more projects with fewer accounts.
