YouTube's algorithm is ridiculously bad. It just suggests the same things I've already watched. I don't understand why some people worship these algorithms.

That is so true! I find the suggestion boring beyond belief, and I'm amazed at all fact that it is apparently nevertheless working well WNO to keep user captivated...

True, Instagram does the same.

I'll defend the YouTube algorithm cos it nailed a recommendation for me when I needed it.

It's ok in general but does suggest some interesting stuff at times.

Shorts algorithm is not good imo

Anyone interested in developing a Nostr algorithm marketplace, let’s connect!

It appears nobody can touch Tik Tok’s algorithm

Have you tried these options?

They are not very useful as they are only available in some sections of the site, and not others, for some reason.

I have used the "Not interested" option some 200 times and YouTube still keep recommending to me stuff that is trending and I have no interest in.

The modus operandi of these modern AI-based recommendation engines is basically "shut up, we know better".

I don't feel like working for a dumb machine I don't understand and probably doesn't care about me.

#Nostr is the new place for discovery. I guess Youtube are happy with status quo $ with no need for improving.

I've been using YouTube Music and I can't tell you how many times I have shuffled a playlist of over 500 songs, and it will play the same fucking songs after other ones. Over...and over...and over

I have thought about going back to Spotify so many times. I miss the API access.

YouTube is way past it's prime. I think the best time was 2012-2016

My experience is different, it "understood" me during 2019-2022 and offered great content!

I don't use it much for discovery nowadays though, I use it for mostly for content from existing subscriptions.

Video is super important and it should be the way we consume info, because any text can be generated by AI.

When podcastr?

Moving image is the universal language!

not only that but it suggests the ones you did not recommended or not interested 😁

Perhaps this is because their own mind is even worse.

Yes.

However, if you stop to realize there are people watching the office every night.

For the 40th time they’re going through the same tv series. Episode after episode. Night after night.

Maybe it makes sense with that in mind.

I don’t understand how people can continue to rewatch the same shows for longer than it even ran on tv in the first place…

Dinheiro meu amigo! As pessoas querem dinheiro e não verdade! But bitcoin fix it.

I think it's bad for people who look for interesting content, but great for zombies who go there to escape the real world. If for example you "enjoy" viral dance trends, then the typical recommendation algorithm is exactly what you want. But it doesn't carry over for content that's informative because then suddenly the you are seeking variety, not similarity. Sadly most people fall into the zombie category.
